PALO ALTO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–XGS Energy (XGS), a leader in advanced geothermal energy technology, recently promoted Ghazal Izadi, Ph.D., to Chief Operating Officer (COO).
As COO, Dr. Izadi will manage XGS’s day-to-day operations, driving technology development and helping to execute strategies to bring 24/7, low-cost geothermal energy to more places around the globe—including water-scarce regions. Her initial focus is to accelerate deployment of XGS’s scalable, no-water, carbon-free, and closed-loop heat-harvesting technology.
“We’re happy that Ghazal has accepted this critical role as Chief Operating Officer,” said XGS’s Chief Executive Officer Walter Kolbe. “In a relatively short time with the company, she has demonstrated her mastery of both technical and business issues. We are fully confident that she will help establish XGS as the leader in scalable, closed-loop, and economical geothermal energy.”
Dr. Izadi joined XGS in April 2022 as its Vice President of Reservoir Management and Market Strategy. Previously, she spent nearly a decade with Baker Hughes, where she held various positions in research and engineering management related to pressure pumping, geosciences, and petroleum engineering. Her last Baker Hughes assignment was as Global Discipline Lead for Unconventionals and Geothermal in the Reservoir Technical Services team.
A native of Iran, Dr. Izadi was a lecturer of senior-level undergraduate courses at Shiraz Azad University (SAU) before earning a doctorate degree in computational geomechanics from the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Izadi is the recipient of the Henry Ramey Geothermal Reservoir Engineering Award, presented by Geothermal Rising to recognize individual excellence in advancing the discipline of geothermal reservoir engineering.
XGS Energy welcomes Dr. Izadi as its COO at a time when the company is actively pursuing new investment partnerships and in-field project opportunities.
